Willie Snow

This is my first year at Saint Joseph School, and I am thrilled to be teaching sixth grade
history and religion. I come from New York City, where I have been all my life. After
receiving my BA in history at SUNY Purchase, I worked in publishing at the Library of
America for three years. I left to become a teacher, receiving my MA in Secondary Social
Studies education from Columbia Teachers College. I then taught middle school Social
Studies in the New York Public School System for three years, after which I left to discern
a possible vocation to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of New York. I was in the
seminary for five wonderful years, during which time I received two more MAs–in Catholic
Philosophy and Theology. I discerned out in 2019 and taught history and religion at an
all-girls Catholic high school in the Bronx. Last summer, I moved to Somerville to be near
my fiancée. Though it’s always startling to move to a new place, (especially when you’ve
lived in the same city your whole life), the Saint Joseph community has already made me
feel as welcome as if I’d always been here.
